Weight Loss Programs
Ideal for someone who may be near or at goal weight but needs to lose body fat. Combines personal
training and nutrition education/diet plan to aid in body fat loss. Available in 4-week, 8-week and 12-week
programs at all three Wellness Centers.
Offered by St. Joseph’s Hospital in partnership with Health Management Resources (HMR), this filling diet of approximately
1,200-1,400 calories a day uses portion-controlled HMR meal replacements (weight loss shakes, entrées, soup,
multigrain cereal and nutrition bars), and fruits and vegetables. In-depth lifestyle education, including
simple strategies to increase daily levels of physical activity, are also part of the program, administered
in-clinic or at home by a professional team that includes a registered dietitian and fitness specialist. The
in-clinic weight-loss program is the most respected – and effective – in the country. It is scientifically
based and promotes fast, maximum weight loss and better health.
The OPTIFAST Program is a two-phase program of meal replacements, medical supervision, lifestyle
education, counseling, support and accountability, offered through St. Anthony’s Outpatient Center. The
Active phase lasts 12 weeks and is for patients who want to lose 50+ pounds. The six-week Transition
phase follows, and is available for patients who want to lose 30-50 pounds.
RMR helps you scientifically determine how many calories should be consumed to achieve caloric goals.
Body composition results help you isolate lean body mass from fat, determine potential health/sport risks,
etc. Available at all three Wellness Centers.
Why Weight? is a unique weight management program for kids ages 8-13, which addresses all aspects of
healthy eating – portion control, making healthy food substitutions, eating in moderation – as well as
regular exercise and enhancing self-esteem. Along with one parent or guardian per child, participants learn
how to make choices that lead to a healthy lifestyle for the whole family. The class meets for two hours per
week for six weeks and is staffed by registered dietitians, certified health educators and exercise specialists.
